Wow, I can't believe that September is already over! As we approach the end of the year, I decided to take a look at my 2025 reading goal and see where I stand with it. I am honestly shocked that I am still (mostly) on track.

However, some of my other goals are not as on track. I've noticed I've read a lot of books from the library this year. Which is great, but it means I'm not reading the books that I buy (don't tell my husband!).
Now, let's wrap up what I read this month.
Books read: 11
Soul Eater, Vol 1 by Atsushi Ohkubo - ★★★☆☆
Source: Library
Format: Paperback
A good start to what I know will be a good series. I like how this first vol took time to introduce each of the characters and give them distinct personalities. It did it very smoothly.
Devil's Line, Vol 4 by Ryo Hanada - ★★★☆☆
Source: KU
Format: ebook
This one was ok. Still good plot development but the romance got a little mushy. I ended up DNFing vol 5 because it was becoming more about the romance and I wanted it to follow the mystery plot more.
Jujutsu Kaisen by Gege Akutami
Source: Library
Format: ebook
Volume 11 - ★★★☆☆
Volume 12 - ★★★⯪☆
Volume 13 - ★★★★☆
Volume 14 - ★★★★☆
Volume 15 - ★★★☆☆
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling - ★★★★☆
Source: My owned books
Format: Paperback
Four Found Dead by Natalie D. Richards - ★★★☆☆
Source: Library
Format: Audiobook
This started off pretty slow and honestly I didn’t really get invested until more than half way in. If I wasn’t reading it for a book swap, I probably would have dnfed. But I am glad I finished because the end was more engaging and it did all come back together in an interesting way. I think I’m more used to mysteries and not survival thrillers. It wasn’t really clear to me what the mystery was until later, but I think that’s just the kind of book it is.
Fierce as a Tiger Lily by Kendra Moreno - ★★★★★
Source: My owned books
Format: ebook
This book had me laughing, gasping, and even crying! It was a beautiful blend of fairytale and storytelling with the magic of childhood and the raw emotional vulnerability of adulthood. I loved everything about this book!
Cold Hearted by Serena Valentino - ★★★★☆
Source: Library
Format: Audiobook
It took me awhile to start this one because I didn’t really enjoy the 7th book. But this one was a really good twist and I was hooked right away. It makes you think about and consider “is the villain really the villain?”
