June was a pretty good month for reading. I really got back into the groove after my May slump.

Black Clover, Vol. 1 by Yûki Tabata - ★★★★★

This was a great start to what I'm sure will be a thrilling series. The characters are fun and the magic system is unique. The MC has no magic but wants to be the Wizard King (the best magician in the world), and the way that their ambitions and desires were portrayed was very well done. I am excited to read more.

The Mistake by Elle Kennedy - ★★★⯪☆

This was a bit of a let down after The Deal but I think I just didn't like the trope. The writing was still good and the romance was sweet. Some plot points felt a little coincidental. They were good plot points for the characters, but they just didn't seem very likely.

They Called Us Enemy by George Takei - ★★★★★

This was an amazing memoir that I think everyone should read. It talks about such an important part of our history through the eyes of a child who lived through it. It shows how our history still affects us today and reminds us of how easily history can be repeated and its lessons forgotten.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Vol. 3: Believe in Yourself by Koyoharu Gotouge - ★★★★☆

This volume introduced some new characters and concepts that were really interesting. It's starting to show the hierarchy of the demons and we got to learn more about the head demon.

Black Clover, Vol. 2 by Yûki Tabata - ★★★☆☆

I like how the story is continuing and the expansion on the knights' duties and their role in the kingdom. The magic system seems very visually heavy so I've decided to watch the show instead to get the full feel of it all.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Vol. 4: Robust Blade by Koyoharu Gotouge - ★★★★★

This volume feels like a good progression of the story. It expands on existing characters and introduces new ones with a good balance. And the demon's power in this one was really cool.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Vol. 5: To Hell by Koyoharu Gotouge - ★★★★★

I had never considered demon families before so the one in this volume was a cool surprise. This volume also showed the humanity that some demons still have and how they might still want things they wanted as humans (like family). It was a really good dive into the demons more so than the slayers in this one and I liked that.

Game Changer by Rachel Reid - ★★★★☆

This book was adorable! Their insecurities at the start of the relationship were so cute, and the romance bloomed at the perfect pace. The progression of their relationship felt so natural, and in the end, they chose what they needed in life.

Accomplice to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer - ★★★★★

Another 5-star read. The plot was plotting, the banter was bantering, and I loved that it introduced more characters and plot points without it feeling like too much.

Crossed by Emily McIntire - ★★★★☆

I originally DNFed this as I am not a huge fan of the priest trope and it was very focused on the priest trope at the beginning. I ended up picking it up again so I could (eventually) say I've read the whole series. After I picked it back up, other plot points started leading the story more and I ended up enjoying it quite a bit.

The Correspondent by Virginia Evans - ★★★★☆

This was a cool idea, a story being told through letters. There wasn't much character depth, but the character growth was sweet. I liked watching the MC go through her later life and learn to let others back in.

Twisted Love by Ana Huang - ★★★☆☆

I enjoyed this to an extent. I am not a huge fan of Alex and I am a bit surprised by the ending given everything that happened. But he did put himself out there for her in a way he never had before.

Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi - DNF

This was just progressing really slowly and wasn't able to keep my interest.

You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero - DNF

I had a really hard time understanding what the author was trying to convey in this book.

Blood Over Bright Haven by M.L. Wang - DNF

This book seems like it has really good potential. But personally, I didn't enjoy all the jargon and everything around magic that the author was including, and it felt like the plot wasn't progressing fast enough to be impactful to me.
