Better late than never...

March wasn't a great book month, but not every month can be stellar.
Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins - ★★★☆☆
This was a reread and I listened to the audiobook this time. I original had this at 4 stars from when I read it before, but after this reread I lowered it to 3 stars. It is still good and I love the characters and the story. It just wasn't as amazing as I remember it being, especially now that I've read more books.
Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins - ★★☆☆☆
I tried reading this back when I originally read Hunger Games and Catching Fire, but I couldn't get into it. I listened to the audiobook this time and was able to get through it but it just wasn't great. It felt very rushed for it being the end of a war that barely started and some of the things the characters went through just didn't make sense.
Scarred by Emily McIntire - ★★★★⯪
This was great. I loved the romance and the plot and I loved the depth of the characters.
Two Can Play by Ali Hazelwood - ★★⯪☆☆
It was a cute story. I wish it had more about what happens after their retreat.
Are You Mad at Me? by Meg Josephson - ★★★★☆
I related to this book much more than I expected to which was great. The advice and examples were very easy to digest and understand in a way that can help me with my fawn response going forward. It was also nice that now I understand myself a bit more and I can understand why my reactions are what they are sometimes. If you have any people pleasing tendencies or avoiding confrontation, I highly recommend this book.
Dark & Darker Still by Nikki St. Crowe - ★★★⯪☆
This one wasn't as good as the others in the series but I still enjoyed it. It is more about the plot and less about romance which is different than what I was expecting since the rest in the series are very romance heavy. But I loved reading Vane and Roc's origin story and learning what happened to Lainey. And the epilogue was beautiful.
Piranesi by Susanna Clarke - ★★⯪☆☆
I was excited about this one because the premise sounded very intriguing. As I read it, I noticed the writing was very good. It kept me engaged with the story because of how well it flowed. I liked the idea that it is written in journal style from Piranesi's point of view. However, it felt like there wasn't really a point to the story. I thought to myself "Why are they telling me this story?" and I just couldn't really think of an answer. I think it would have been better to give more context around what happened before so that I understood the character's motives a bit better. Maybe then it would have been more interesting to me. But otherwise, it is a good read. I just think it is more of a philosophical thinking type book which I'm not as into (at least right now).
